Marriage Ministries

Hope Community Church recognizes the importance of healthy, growing marriages in our community and in our personal walks with God. The Marriage Ministries of Hope comprise various programs to build stronger, more effective, and more joyful marriages. Some programs are designed for enrichment, others for timely intervention in troubled marriages, and others offer opportunities for couples with good marriages to become even better through effective service.

Consider learning more about the following areas of marriage ministry:

• Marriage Matters Workshops
Couples' Small Groups
Newly Married Small Groups
Pre-marital & Mentoring Ministry

These eight-week workshops are offered twice a year to help enrich marriages for couples who desire to make a significant investment in their relationship -- as well as helping those who are experiencing marital difficulties to resolve their current struggles and identify next steps in their spiritual and emotional growth. Workshops are usually held in the fall and winter of each year.

Topics vary weekly with a combination of the following topics explored:

  • God's Design for Marriage
  • How our family of origin impacts who we are in our marriage
  • Healthy Models of Communication
  • Recognizing and Dealing with our Defensiveness
  • Understanding our Differences
  • Love Languages
  • Sexual Intimacy
  • Choosing to Forgive
  • Understanding and Managing Emotions

Pre-marital & Mentoring Ministry

The decision to marry is one of the most important choices we make in life. Preparation for marriage involves much more than detailing a beautiful wedding. Our desire here at Hope is to help engaged and pre-engaged couples establish a marriage that will endure and that they can enjoy for a lifetime.

In the 6-week pre-marital classes, topics such as expectations of marriage, love, attitudes, communication, gender differences, personality differences, conflict, spiritual compatibility, and finances are covered. Also provided are mentoring couples to walk beside participant couples through this time as well as resources to prepare couples for what lies ahead.

Should you desire to be married by one of our Hope pastors, participation in the pre-marital course is required.

For more information or to find out when the next session of pre-marital classes begin, contact Joe Roberts at joer@gethope.net or 532.0620.
