Why Automatic Tithe?

Automatic giving is an automatic electronic transfer program that allows you make contributions without writing checks. This creates another convenient avenue of giving for those who call Hope home. If you have been at Hope for any length of time, you may have noticed that we want to create giving opportunities without pressure. At the same time, we attempt to provide ways that make giving easily accessible. At Hope we believe that tithing is a form of worship and in no way want to make it less personal. Automatic giving still allows for personal involvement and control in every aspect. We have set it up in such a way that along with choosing the amount to give, you will be able to pick which day(s) of the month you would like to tithe: the 1st and/or 15th of each month.

We also understand that things change and sometimes people wish to give less, more, etc. With a simple notification to Hope's financial administrator, Katherine Ward, at katherinew@gethope.net or 532.0620 x146, you can easily change anything you would like, including stopping automatic tithe at your convenience.

Procedures

In order to provide some structure to the procedure, we do ask that those who wish to participate follow a few simple procedures:

1. Fill out the Authorization Form -- Download form here

2. Turn in completed form by

  • Bringing it to the church office
  • Dropping it in an offering box on Sundays
  • Mailing it to the church office to the attention of Katherine Ward*

*NOTE: The financial administrator will be the only one who has access to your information. After it has been entered on the secure program, it will be locked up in a file.

WE VALUE THE PRIVACY OF YOUR INFOMATION!

3. When it takes effect:

a. Your first deduction will occur on the upcoming 1st or 15th of the month according to which date you chose, whichever comes next. (For example, if you checked the 1st of each month and that day has passed, it will begin on the 1st of the following month.)

b. Depending on whom you bank with, the transaction may take a few days to be deducted.

c. If the 1st or 15th is a holiday recognized by the bank, it will still be submitted on that day, but will not be processed until the following day, and therefore will be a one day delay

4. How to change information or stop automatic tithe (three options):

  • You can call Katherine at Hope, 532.0620 x146, and request your change over the phone
  • You can e-mail Katherine at katherinew@gethope.net and notify her of the change. (Please do not email account numbers.)
  • You can fill out the Automatic Giving Form and drop it in the offering box on Sundays.

No matter which option you choose, please include the following:

    1. Name on the account
    2. Which date you have your tithe taken out (1st or 15th or both)
    3. What you would like changed (account info, amount, etc.)
    4. Do you want this change to be permanent or for a temporary amount of time?
    5. Signature, if you are putting note in tithe box

NOTE: Change/Stop information must be submitted by Sunday . The transaction will be done Monday morning so unless notified before then no change will be made. Monday morning is too late.
