Church Band Rocks
Here and Internationally |
PRESS RELEASE
March 31, 2005
CHURCH BAND ROCKS HERE AND INTERNATIONALLY
Local Band Plays Here First, Then On To Central Asia
Raleigh, NC – They can jam with the best of them.
Their classic renditions of old rock favorites such as “Takin’
it to the Streets” and “Satisfaction” will have
you singing along and thinking you couldn’t possibly be
sitting in church right now.
On Saturday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., the band "Band of Brothers"
will present a one-hour concert of classic rock favorites at Hope
Community Church in Southwest Raleigh. This is a preview concert
for an upcoming music mission’s trip to Central Asia this
spring.
The Band of Brothers concert is free and the community is invited
to attend.
Band of Brothers consists of worship director Karl Moraski of
Hope Community Church and several members of Hope’s contemporary
worship band. They have been rehearsing a genre of music for weeks
that’s been a little out of the ordinary for them. Well,
the styles pretty common for them, but the lyrics and the form
definitely veer from the standard contemporary church music fare.
“We’re having a great time with these old favorites,”
comments Moraski, “and that’s what we’re hoping
will happen when we travel overseas. We’ve been invited
to support local mission activities there by acting as a “bridge”
event into the communities we'll be visiting, providing a common
ground atmosphere for all.”
Currently the full-time music and worship director at Hope Community
Church, Moraski’s music and professional accomplishments
include piano performances with various national and international
orchestral and ballet companies, composing musical scores for
the Carolina Ballet Company (his most current to debut in two
weeks), TV and soundtrack recordings, and the writing and composing
of worship and choir music specials.
Moraski will be joined on the upcoming missions trip by church
band members Rick Bandy, Brian Blackmore, Jason Gore, Mark Martyak,
and John Pritchett, whose families have given their blessings
and committed to support and pray for them during their two-week
absence.
The Band of Brothers concert will be held in the auditorium of
Grace Christian School, 801 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh, near the
South Hills and Crossroads area in Cary. Hope meets at the school
for weekend services while construction continues on their own
facilities adjacent to the school.
Founded in 1994, Hope’s unique vision includes ministering
through the arts, media, and culturally relevant teaching.
