Drama Team Presents Unique One-act Play
Hope Community Church Presents Nativity on the Square
RALEIGH/CARY -- When the Nativity figures of a public crèche
scene come to life on Christmas Eve without an understanding of
who they are, the whimsical and naive characters receive an explanation
from a very unlikely source.
The adult drama team of Hope Community Church (HCC) will present
the one-act play Nativity on the Square during the church’s
weekend services of December 11 and 12. Services times are:
- Saturday, December 11, 5:00 p.m.
- Sunday, December 12, 9:30 and 11:15 a.m.
HCC currently holds services in the school auditorium of Grace
Christian School, 801 Buck Jones Road, Raleigh, near the South
Hills/Crossroads area. Under construction adjacent to the school
is HCC’s own 90,000 square-foot facility.
Under the direction of Debbie Dodson, Creative Arts Director
of HCC, the adult drama team has been in existence since 1998
and performs regularly in the church’s weekend services.
They also produce full-length theatrical productions and other
special event presentations. Actors audition for drama team membership
and attend regular training sessions for acting, improvisational,
and general theatrical development.
“We are a serious acting troupe,” explains Dodson.
“These adult actors give hours of rehearsal and training
time to this ministry. Of utmost importance to us is doing what
we do, both comedies and serious dramas, to the very best of our
ability. We feel really blessed to be a part of a church that
celebrates the arts with such conviction and passion.”
Children’s programming and nursery care for infants through
grade 5 will be available during the Christmas presentation.
Founded in 1994 by Pastor Mike Lee and his wife, Laura, Hope
