A church-wide six-week study for new (forming now!) and existing small groups
February 2 - March 16, 2008
What will we study?
The Bible -- specifically the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew 5, 6, and 7.
When and how will we study it?
In small groups located all around the Triangle. You can join an existing small group or be a part of a newly
forming group for this six-week period. You also have the option of hosting and leading a new group in your
home by signing up for the leader's training. You could even offer to host a group in your home and
request a leader to guide your group through the study. However you choose to be involved, signing up for
a small group is the first step.
What else makes this a "church-wide" event?
Pastor Mike will be teaching from the very same scriptures during each weekend service of the six-week study
(February 2 - March 9). Music, dramas, and videos will also be incorporated during the services to tie in with the
theme of the messages and the small group studies.
What is the goal of this church-wide undertaking?
To have every participant reading, understanding and applying God's word.
Besides a Bible, what else will I need?
To assist with personal, inductive Bible study, a book entitled Transforming Bible Study by Bob Grahmann is
offered. Cost is $10 per copy and is available during our weekend services. You will also want to download
your free copy of the Sermon on the Mount worksheets needed for the study. In addition, the small
group leaders will have a copy of Studies in the Sermon on the Mount by Oswald Chambers for reference.
When and how can I sign up?
Now! Small groups sign ups are going on now in the atrium during our weekend services. Stop by "The Kitchen
Table" and discover a small group just right for you. Or, click here and sign up online. And don't forget to
purchase your book, Transforming Bible Study, for $10 also available in the atrium during weekend services.
Do you need additional leaders for the many new groups forming?
Absolutely! We want to provide a small group environment for every attendee of Hope who wishes to participate.
You have the option of attending one of four remaining leader training dates:
- Wednesday, January 9, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, January 12, 9:00-11:00 a.m.
- Wednesday, January 16, 7:00-9:00 p.m.
- Saturday, January 19, 9:00-11:00 a.m.
All training classes are held in the chapel.
If I have questions, whom should I contact?
Jeff Shaeffer, Hope's Small Groups Director, at jeffs@gethope.net or 532.0620.
"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.
Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is -- his good, pleasing and perfect will."
