If we protect our hearts, the Word of God can take root and change our lives.
Who have you invited, or could you invite to Easter services this year? Have one person in your group take time to pray for those invites.
This series has shown us four phases people move through in their relationship with God:
Exploring God → Beginning with God → Close to God → God-Centered
Which phase would you say you are currently moving toward? In what ways have you grown throughout this series?
This week, we learned that in order to be God-centered, our hearts need to be planted in “good soil” – ready to receive and respond to God’s word. What is an area of your life where you currently struggle with being hard-hearted?
What does the Bible say?
Read Isaiah 57:15.
What would it look like for you to have a more humble heart?
Read Leviticus 20:26.
To be holy means to be set apart for God. What attitudes and thoughts are consistently in your heart that aren’t holy?
Read 2 Cor 4:16-18.
What parts of your life reflect that you are living in light of eternity?
What parts of your life are still focused on the temporary?
Apply the message
As a church, we have spent time praying and reflecting on where we have been and where God will move us next. We move from being close to God to God-Centered when we put our beliefs into action.
Share something God has been leading you to do lately. How can your group support you in taking the next step?
