Hey Hope! The Morrisville campus has a new area pastor and we’d love to introduce you!

Before coming on staff at Hope, Micah MacDonald was a counseling intern for The Summit Church at Wake County Correctional Center and associate pastor of discipleship at North Ridge Church in North Raleigh for five years.

Name: Micah MacDonald

Family: My wife is Kellie, and we have two daughters, Zoe (8) and Lois (4)

Span of Care: Morrisville, W. Cary, Durham

How did you become a Christian? On Sunday morning, Dec. 8, 1989 through a puppet show put on through my churches children’s ministry I said a “repeat-after-me” prayer. At that time it was more about not wanting my parents to go to heaven without me than it was about understanding the depths of the gospel.  God was faithful to answer the “reapeat-after-me” prayer of an 8 year old and since that day God  has been overcoming my spiritual blindness taking me into the depths of grace and mercy and making me into what I became on that December morning.

Favorite Quote(s): “The LORD your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.” -Zephaniah

“We become what we worship” –GK Beale

What is something most people don’t know about you?

I’m an introvert at heart and I love listening to electronica/ ambient music

What are some of the ways you paid the bills before you came to Hope? Coffee, chicken and young adults — I worked at Starbucks, Sola Coffee Café, and Chick-fil-A as well as leading Young Adult ministries at North Ridge Church in Raleigh (’07-’12)

What hobbies do you enjoy? Reading, coffee, documentaries, Civil War, Mexican food, studying up on counseling issues (addictions, anger, depression, sexual struggles, eating disorders, etc.), anything with my family.

Why are you a pastor? I am a pastor because there is nothing else I could do, it gives me life, and I love it! (John 6:68) Meaning, at the end of the day there is nothing that would be satisfying and to not be a pastor would be disobedient to God’s calling on my life. I just want to be a friend of the Bridegroom! (John 3:29)

What is your favorite thing about your job? The people. That I am right where I’m supposed to be, laboring with some awesome people to encourage other awesome people to grow in their relationship with Jesus.  I love walking with people through the good, bad and ugly and see them grow to be more and more like Jesus.

Cat or Dog person? Neither…I’m a human-kind-of-person.

Welcome to the team, Micah!
