Dec. 8 & 9, 2018

It may only be six verses – but it’s one of the most recited and well-known chapters in the entire Bible. Psalm 23 is all about how God, our good Shepherd, wants to take care of us. In our fall series on Psalm 23, learn how live in the goodness of God.

The three biggest things we have in common with sheep and how they point us back to Jesus are:

  • Directionally challenged
    • Like sheep, if we aren’t supervised, we wander away from the safety of our home, and it becomes easier to develop bad habits
    • Like a good shepherd, the Lord leads us to paths of righteousness, even as our lives make us feel scared and restless
      • He can do this because He’s truly righteous
    • It can be difficult to find the right path and even harder to stay on it, but once we do we need to:
      • admit and submit
      • obey and pray
    • Four things that help us stay on the right P-A-T-H:
      • Persevere
      • Attitude
      • Trust
      • Higher Ground
  • Extremely dependent
    • We’re never out of God’s reach and He can make us feel His warm, peaceful presence even when we’re going through our coldest, most chaotic moments
  • Extremely dirty
    • Sin separates us from God
    • Jesus’s sacrifice is the only way to cleanse our sins

Final thought: Jesus is the Good Shepherd and we’re His sheep. The closer we follow Him, the more we’ll live a meaningful, joyful life.
