Main Idea
God’s name is worth to be praised and honored, not misused.

Would you rather spend the entire workday non-stop listening to “Stop in the Name of Love” by Diana Ross and the Supremes or “You Give Love a Bad Name” by Bon Jovi?

There is so much associated with a person’s name. When you hear a name, your brain does its own google search for that person, finding an image, memories, roles, reputation, feelings and more.

What comes to your mind when you hear the name of God?

How are people in places you live, work and play treating God’s name? What does this reveal about their view of God?

What does the Bible say?
Exodus 20:7, Ezekiel 36:22-23, James 4:3, Ezekiel 22:28 and Psalm 113:3

What stands out to you from these passages?

In what way is honoring God’s name hardest for you?

Apply the message
The Ten Commandments were not conditional rules to earn freedom, they were given post – freedom as boundaries of grace to keep us in good relationships with God and others.
