We are encouraging all small groups to go through the Anchored study. You can find everything you need at www.anchoredstudy.com. We will offer a shortened message-based study from now through the end of the year to allow your group to go through Anchored. If you have questions, please feel free to reach out to us at email@example.com.
There will be times during “the journey” when we must wait on God. Abraham had to wait until he was 99 to see the child God promised him, yet he was able to walk in faith (and his faith grew stronger) despite having to wait for what was promised.
Discuss the Message
What stood out to you from the message this weekend? (a point, verse or story you remember, etc.)
What is God teaching you through what you learned either from the message or the verses this week?
How do you currently face seasons of waiting? How does Abraham’s example encourage you to respond?
Apply the Message
We can be so focused on what we want FROM God that we lose trust in Him when He doesn’t deliver according to OUR timeline. Abraham shows us it is possible to grow closer to God during the wait if we commit ourselves to walking in faith.
If you are in a period of waiting on God:
- Remember what God can do. Abraham believed that God brings the dead back to life and creates new things out of nothing. God is bigger than anything you will ever face.
- Rely on God’s promises. Turn to the promises God has made in His word when you are tempted to give up.
- Face the facts in faith. Faith is not denial. Faith is facing the facts in your life without being discouraged by them.
- Believe in advance. Joyfully expect God to act in your life and to do good things, even if it’s not the way you planned.
