Main Idea
We have to learn to say no, so we can say yes to the things that will actually make a difference in our lives.

What’s something you said yes to this week that you probably shouldn’t have?

What’s something you said no to this week that you’re glad you did?

How are you inconsistent with your yes’s and no’s?

Are you the kind of person who tends to be:

  • Overcommitted (says yes when you should say no)
  • Kind, but not always genuine (says yes when you really mean no)
  • Stingy (says no when you could say yes)
  • Afraid of missing out (doesn’t say yes or no)
  • Something else?

How do you feel your inconsistencies might impact others around you?

What does the Bible say?
Read 2 Corinthians 1:17-20

All of God’s promises are yes in Christ. What is it about the work of Christ that confirms a yes answer to God’s promises?

Apply the Message
Think of a circumstance or relationship in your life where you either need to say yes or no, but would be tempted to do otherwise. Share with your group and take time to pray for each person about those things. Break into groups of two to three if needed.
